I live in the noise, and I teach it to sing.
My name is Zajah, and the sound is my own: neon-lit and built to be remembered. Call it the 80s dreamed forward, with warm analog pads and patient drum machines. I write between the lines and play on the keys (a digital keyboard, if we’re being honest), and I’ve been told my voice lives somewhere between Alison Moyet, Taylor Dayne, and Mick Hucknall of Simply Red.

I started in the 1990s, straight out of high school, when I founded TIAB Productions. More than ten years in, I’ve been lucky to work with artists of every kind. The one that sent my career into orbit was boyMONROE. For a couple of years I was its producer, composer, and one of its voices. We found a home in the LGBTQ+ family of Austin, Texas, and that community became our launchpad.
I don’t broadcast the private channels of my life. I stay humble about the road it took to get here, and excited about how far there still is to go. I’d like to think I’ve lit the way a little for whoever’s next.
